Our mission statement at St. Mark's invites us to grow to become like Jesus! Take the plunge into a life of growth! It's an exciting and challenging place to be! Consider getting connected to a small group. And be sure to check out the following.
The Alpha course provides an opportunity to ask questions and explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting. It covers the basics of Christianity and answers questions like "Who is Jesus?" and "Why did he die?" It's an 11 week series, including a weekend retreat where anyone can explore the Christian Faith in a friendly, open and informal environment. Each session includes a meal, worship, and a main talk on how Christianity approaches the question at hand, followed by a small group discussion where you can share your thoughts and questions in a relaxed setting. Check out this two-minute video. Alpha will start with an Introductory Dinner and video on Sunday, Sept. 15 2019 and continue on Sundays. For more information, contact Marlys at email@example.com or 447-0100. You can also check out www.alphausa.org. #TryAlpha

Crossways is a comprehensive two-year study of the Bible, authored by the Rev. Dr. Harry Wendt, that makes the Bible come alive. The course offers a "big picture" approach to studying Scripture while also incorporating historical and cultural insights. The Crossways study consists of 6 books with 10 lessons each--but the Bible is the ultimate "textbook" for the course.
Our Crossways Bible Studies will soon be starting fresh with the Old Testament on Monday evenings beginning on September 10 at 7 pm. Now is a great time to get started with this rather intensive survey course of the Bible. Please contact Sarah Bartlett at email@example.com or 447-0100 if interested.
The Divine Drama-A Crossways Course
This thirty-three week journey through God’s Word, led by Pastor Steve, will begin on Tuesday, September 4. The course of study is different from the traditional Crossways material in terms of length and content. Instead of a two year, sixty-week course, it is condensed into one year that will finish in early May.
The first half of the year we will walk through several books of the Old Testament and the Gospels. The second half the year will focus on several New Testament letters, and on applying the teachings of Jesus in our lives through a deeper study of prayer, the nature of salvation, the Holy Trinity, the work and power of the Holy Spirit, baptism, holy communion, and how the Lord calls us to live out our lives in this world.
If you have any questions or would like to sign up for the course please contact Pastor Steve Qualben at firstname.lastname@example.org. The course materials are $35.00 for the entire year.
What does it mean to do missions well? How can I reach out in my community and make a difference for Jesus Christ? We are certainly all called to love God and love others. However, good intentions sometimes hurt those we want to help. Michele Jones, a St. Mark’s partner with years of local and international missions experience leads this course For more information contact: Sarah Bartlett, Director of Community, at email@example.com or 319-447-0100
