Confirmation at St. Mark’s

Lutheran confirmation is intended to support faith formation, as students connect their faith and life.

Confirmation has been a long-standing tradition where students go through a program learning about Martin Luther and what it means to be Lutheran.
From there, students are expected to write a statement of faith.

We've noticed over the years is that students complete their faith statement and never come back to St. Mark's.
Not all students want to do Confirmation, so we have revamped our program!

In 2023, we launched a new voluntary confirmation program for 8th graders and their families.
This program holds students accountable and ensures they're making the choice to get confirmed for themselves.
Confirmation isn't just a box to check.
If your student will be in 8th grade (Fall 2024-Spring 2025) please prayerfully consider registering for our confirmation program.

Registration closes June 1, 2024. At that time, the interview process to find Confirmation coaches/mentors will begin.

What You Need To Know

Pastor Paul and Bailey LeBeau walk you through the BIG changes made in our confirmation program

The 5 BIG factors that went into this decision:

  1. How can we keep "tradition" but hold students accountable & ensure they're making this choice for themselves? Confirmation isn't just a box to check.

  2. We're going to challenge our culture with an intense discipleship model.

  3. We, as a church, NEED to help equip parents to be involved in their student's spiritual development.

  4. Culture is heading toward digital church, based on studies. How can we create a Lutheran curriculum to put out for the world?

  5. Confirmation should be life-giving, but it isn't life giving for everyone.

What You May Be Asking…

  • Acts 2:42 says, "The devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching, and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer."

We will be doing just that! We're going to learn from teaching (e.g. Teen Alpha, Lutheran theology) together, eat a meal together, discuss together, and pray together.

  • Our new program will begin in the fall for our current 7th graders, as they enter their 8th grade year in fall of 2024.

Current 7th grade students need to let Bailey know if they are going to participate in this extra program by June 1, 2024. At that time, the interview process to find Confirmation coaches/mentors will begin.
