Family Ministry
Our mission:
From birth to high school graduation, our Family Ministry team
works to partner with and equip families to connect faith + life.
Our Programs.
-
Baptism
Baptisms are a significant part of worship at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. We encourage you to come to worship and find out if St. Mark’s is the place where you want to worship, be involved, and raise your child.
-
Nursery (infant-four years old)
Noah’s Park Nursery is ready to serve children ages birth to four years and their families.
-
Sunday School (PreK - 1st grade)
During the school year, Sunday School is offered on Sunday mornings from 10:00 -11:00 am for PreK through 1st graders.
-
Journey (2nd-4th grade)
Our students are on an incredible JOURNEY with Jesus and we're thrilled to be a part of their faithlife.
Journey meets Wednesdays during the school year from 5:30-7:30 pm.
-
Cultivate (5th and 6th grade)
We have figured out that 5th and 6th grade is a pivotal age to talk about Bible basics. Who is God? What is faith? What does this mean for ME? Students have questions and we want to help empower them in their walk with Jesus, and CULTIVATE what being a follower of Jesus means.
Cultivate meets Wednesdays during the school year from 5:30-7:30 pm.
-
Anthem (7th and 8th grade)
Our upper middle school students are gearing up more for Confirmation. During our time together, we will be learning about both Old & New Testaments, the 10 Commandments, the Lord's Prayer, and MORE as we figure out how it is all STILL relevant to our lives. We are going to discover our ANTHEM as believers.
Anthem meets Wednesdays during the school year from 5:30-7:30 pm.
-
Confirmation
Confirmation has been a long-standing tradition where students go through a program learning about Martin Luther and what it means to be Lutheran. From there, students are expected to write a statement of faith. BIG CHANGES are coming to our Confirmation program beginning in Fall 2023.
-
EDGE (9th-12th grade)
Our high school ministry exists to equip youth with God's Word, reach out with the love of Jesus, connect Christians, and challenge youth to serve and celebrate God with their lives.
Volunteer
We know life gets busy, but there is so much value and intention in having adults and parents involved in their child(ren)'s spiritual growth. That’s why we believe one of the most important ways we love and lead students is by partnering with you

NEW for the 2023-2024 school year. This position is unique due to the fact that it’s incredibly hands-on. These individuals will work with our 8th grade class very intensely as they work toward deepening their faith in Jesus and developing strong community.
All of these individuals will need to be interviewed.

Commitment: Take a week a month, and/or entire month at a time - we will always take you more!
Kitchen: Leading a small group not your thing but you desire to serve our students more behind the scenes? We always need help with food prep and keeping the kitchen & Connections Cafe clean. Our team would love to have you be part of the fun .
Greeters: Do you have a friendly face? Do you love to connect with students AND parents?! We could use your assistance in checking in students each Wednesday night. We want to make sure each student feels like they belong here, which includes they get checked in, get a nametag, and someone learns/knows their name.

We believe in the power of prayer! Ideally, we could cultivate a team that would be in continuous prayer for our students and leaders. We would confidentially share things our people need prayer support for. We may not share their names with you, but want each person to be prayed for weekly! Our team would send you prayer requests each week.
Family Ministry Core Values.
Christ-Centered
It's all about Jesus all the time! We want to know Him in all things we do and find opportunities to make Him known. He is the foundation for all things we do. Prayer, scripture, and teaching every single week!
"How am I growing closer to God in my every day life?"
Purpose-Driven
Jesus has the power to change lives for the better. When we know that life-changing power, we know God's purpose of equipping and calling us.
"What are my strengths? What’s my purpose & how am I fulfilling it?
Church-Focused
We should focus on building relationships with others fed by our living relationship with Jesus. Having deeply-rooted friendships within our church community will help us to build friendships outside of church.
“Do I know my small group? Have I developed a core group of friends?"
Community-Building
We serve the people of God by making disciples. We're more than just a youth group! Instead of looking at ourselves, we want to be outward-facing to those around us.
"Do I know my neighbors? Do I serve the community and care for others?"

Rooted in Jesus.
“And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow Him. Let your roots grow down into Him, and let your lives be built on Him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you are taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.” Colossians 2:6-7 NLT
